Everything’s Pretty, Even if it Hurts

Everything’s Pretty. Even if it Hurts is a self-portrait based project that deals with the pain and depression caused by a past lover.  Rather than dwell on the darkness of this distress and hurt I’ve drawn on its energy instead and using the camera, transformed it into beauty.  Using bright colors, lustrous props and polychrome light, I can transform miscommunication into a waterfall of hope, hidden love into exhilaration, and unhappiness into delight.  Making these photographs has not only help me develop as a person and an artist but allows me to show viewers that there’s a way to convert hurtful situations into ones that can make them feel creative and most alive.
