Tampered Roots

Creating a photographic world filled with the beauty of transcendentalism, I depict a setting where the pain lingered with unrequited love can breathe, and grow. Both artist and subject find a mutual understanding in this emotional space filled with questions, creating portraits and self portraits that illustrate the emotional juxtaposition one feels when letting go of such a lover. I am greatly influenced by Rineke Dijkstra’s beach portraits and Parmigianino’s male portrait paintings, both creating a portrait that gives access to the subject's inner, emotional state.

Photographing throughout Central Park and my hometown, the Jersey Shore, both locations bringing a landscape filled with nature's elements, an emotional process taken away from the domestic space.
